Correspondence, business records, notes and notebooks on surveying, and two muster rolls for Company F, 57th Regiment of Virginia Volunteers, C.S.A. In the correspondence are Civil War letters dealing with campaigns and camp life, and a letter (1874) concerning the organization of local Granges. The business records, which begin about 1815, reflect economic conditions in Virginia; the papers on surveying begin in 1858, and contain general principles, field notes, and cases.
