Handwritten notes, holographic notebooks, manuscripts, typescripts, page proofs, author's galleys, clippings, and correspondence pertaining to the principal stages of development of Harrigan's published works. Includes material on Aransas, published in 1980; Jacob's Well, published in 1984; Clements article, published for Texas monthly in May, 1981; Sleepyhead, published in 1980; and the unpublished screenplay titled Moonwalker. Also includes the Dobie Paisano project, Harrigan's application for the Dobie Paisano fellowship.

As a freelance journalist, Stephen Harrigan has written articles for several publications including Rolling stone, The Texas observer and Texas monthly. He received the Dobie Paisano fellowship in 1977 and acted as president of the Texas Institute of Letters from 1985-87. From 1973-78 Harrigan edited a small poetry magazine titled Lucille.
