The paperback version of Aransas (New York : Avon, 1981) has Harrigan's name spelled incorrectly on title page as Harrington. The author has inscribed the book with the incorrect name. The soft cover version of Aransas, (Austin : Texas Monthly, 1986) is signed and has notes by the author on fly leaf. As a freelance journalist, Stephen Harrigan has written articles for several publications including Rolling stone, The Texas observer and Texas monthly. He received the Dobie Paisano fellowship in 1977 and acted as president of the Texas Institute of Letters from 1985-87. From 1973-78 Harrigan edited a small poetry magazine titled Lucille.
