Alfred Schild (1921-1977) was a mathematical physicist specializing in relativity and gravitation at the Carnegie Institute of Technology (1946-1957) and the University of Texas at Austin (1957-1977). His work concentrated on foundations of relativity, quantization, algebraically special solutions, and conformal techniques.
