Correspondence and papers including Carrington's personal and official correspondence while he was serving as provost marshal of Richmond, Va., from 1863-1865, referring to the problems of supply and discipline, camp life, reports of troop movements and engagements, routine orders, and Confederate and Virginia politics. The papers also relate to Carrington's law practice with Robert Ould from 1865 to 1881 and contain the autograph collection of his son, Seddon Carrington, and his daughter, Mary Coles Carrington.
