Letters primarily to Sir Andrew Richard Scoble, Dufferin's advisor, concerning administrative affairs in India, including appointments to office and requests for advice. Also includes a pamphlet, 1877, giving Dufferin's reply to charges against his appointment of Sir Charles Umpherston Aitchison to the governor's council; comment by Dufferin, 1872, on John Bright's clauses added to the Irish Land Act, permitting government loans to support tenant purchases of lands. There are a few letters by Lady Dufferin and by Sir Henry Blackwood, First Baronet.
