This collection contains biographical information about George Beadle as well as materials relating to his research concerning teosinte and the origin of corn. The bulk of the collection consists of materials associated with a large-scale examination and collection of wild teosinte in Mexico (1971-1975). In addition to Beadle, the other project organizers were Walton G. Galinat and H. Garrison Wilkes, both of the University of Massachusetts. Included are the National Science Foundation proposal that funded the project, correspondence, research record boooks, and photographs.
