James Valentine Collection. [ca. 1870-1890]

Photographs in this collection were made by, or are attributed to James Valentine, with some probably printed after his death by his firm, James Valentine & Sons. Images include interior and exterior views of various cathedrals, castles, palaces, and abbey ruins, as well as city street scenes, and landscape views of parks, riverbanks, seashores, and piers, all in England and Scotland; also included are several genre scenes of Scottish life, and a photomontage of portraits of 97 members of the British Association who met in Dundee, Scotland, September 1867 (accompanied by an index identifying the portraits).

49 photographic prints : albumen, one platinum ; ca. 13 x 21 cm. or smaller (some on mounts 28 x 35 cm.)
