Alma M. Myer papers 1939-1977

Materials that Alma Myer created while writing and publishing her William Beaumont biography, "The Golden Page," 1977. The Alma Myer manuscripts consist of research files for the book, her typescripts of many of William Beaumont letters now housed at this Library, and an annotated carbon copy of her typescript. The research files record memories of Beaumont family members who lived into the 20th century and other sources used by Mrs. Myer.

St. Louis author. Alma Myer was born Alma Mosenfelder in Rock Island, Ill. on May 23, 1890. She was educated at Wellesley College in the class of 1911. In 1916, she married Leo A. Drey, a St. Louis manufacturer. The couple had two children. Mr. Drey died in 1920. In 1926, Alma Drey married Dr. Max W. Myer, a surgeon.
