The primary topic is the coal industry, particularly the coal towns and camps of Benham, Lynch, and Totz; company stores; and union activities. Other subjects include Cumberland; local religious practices; Juanita Morris Kreps, a native of Lynch, Kentucky who served as United States Secretary of Commerce (1977-1979); and the reminiscences of a World War I veteran.

Clara Juanita Morris Kreps (January 11, 1921 – July 5, 2010) was an American government official and businesswoman.
