These are lists of eastern Kentuckians classed as idiots who were confined in a state institution. The lists are divided by county. The lists were compiled by historian Lucien Beckner. The collection also includes a copy of a letter written by Beckner to an unnamed professor apparently associated in the research which discusses compilation methods. The group consists of carbons of Beckner's work and a set of photocopies of these pages.
