The folder contains a photocopy of a 1732 deed to two tracts of land that John Henry Lydius obtained from the Mohawk Indians. One was the "Otter Creek tract" in Vermont, containing 1440 square miles (24 wide by 60 miles long), extending from the mouth of the Otter Creek southward almost to the southern boundary of present-day Rutland County. The ownership of the Otter Creek lands was vigorously disputed between New York and New Hampshire in subsequent years, with Ethan Allen getting into the fight. The "Wood Creek tract", was a smaller parcel located in the area of Whitehall, New York. Also included in the collection is a land indenture from Lydius to Abraham Greene, dated 23 November 1761, for 1/60th part of the town of Cambridge, located in the Otter Creek tract, thought to be in the vicinity of present-day West Rutland and Proctor. Cambridge was to become part of "Socialborough", an area extending from the southern line of Monkton, Vermont to Clarendon, Vermont.
