William Pitt articles of agreement with Robert Fulton, 1804 July 20.

Agreement between the Right Honorable William Pitt, First Lord Commissioner of His Majesty's Treasury and Chancellor of the Exchequer, and the Right Honorable Lord Viscount Melville, First Lord of the Admiralty in behalf of the His Majesty's Government on the one part, and Robert Fulton, citizen of the United States of America, and inventor of a plan for attacking fleets by submarine bombs, on the other. Fulton agrees to describe the principles behind his invention and successfully detonate a bomb and sink an enemy ship (French) in return for payment of several thousand pounds.
