Papers, 1857-1878.

This collection consists of miscellaneous correspondence, for the period 1857 to 1878, written to Horace Homer Soule concerning the taxes and the number and types of new settlers on his Marathon Co., Wis., landholdings, house rental requests, the estimated cost of building a bridge in South Boston for the Boston and New York Central Railroad, and the projected new route of the tracks of the Boston and Maine Railroad. Several letters written by Boston merchants refer to the buying and selling of carpets and carpet yarns. Other business letters were written by Soule's cousin, Charles Soule, Jr. (1821-1893), relative to real estate sales while Soule's brother-in-law, Isaac Sweetser (1812-1887), included family news and vital records.
