Letterbook, 1803-1815.

This letterbook consists almost entirely of letters of Samuel Taggart to John Taylor (1762-1840), minister of the Congregational Church in Deerfield, Mass. Taggart's letters cover almost the entire period of his service in Congress and feflect the deliberations of that body through the eyes of a Congressman distrustful of the Democratic leadership. There is material on domestic politics, the dispute with Great Britain leading to the War of 1812, and the Bur conspiracy in the West. The folder contains typescript copies of all the letters contained in the octavo volume.
