This collection consists of land deeds, receipts, accounts, plans of land plots, wills, and miscellaneous other papers generated in the town of Medway during the period 1668 to 1926. The collection also includes a response (c. 1725) by Rev. Nathan Bucknam (1703-1795), pastor of the First Church of Christ, to a church complaint; a booklet of First Parish valuations, 1817; and letters written by Orian T. Mason ( - ) to U. Waldo Cutler (1854- ) which contain historical notes on the Medway area and portions of the Holbrook family genealogy. Orian T. Mason was the secretary of the Medway Historical Society, organized in 1901.

Nathan Bucknam (1703-1795) was born in Charlestown, Mass., the sixth of twelve children of Joses or Josse and Hannah Peabody Bucknam. He graduated from Harvard College in 1721, and taught school in Charlestown and Malden. He began preaching in Malden before being settled in Medway in 1724.
