Papers, 1828-1857.

Most of the papers in this collection reflect Kinnicutt's legal and business interests. There is a series of letters from 1828 through 1842 written by Kinnicutt's brother-in-law, Ayres Phillips Merrill (1793-1873). Merrill was a doctor and banker in Natchez, Miss. The letters include information on health conditions, cotton trade, banking, financial problems of the South and politics. Kinnicutt acted as guardian for Edward J. Vose, Frances B. Vose, Francis H. Kinnicutt, and Catharine A. Kinnicutt. The collection includes legal papers and financial records related to his guardianship. The collection also includes a small notebook of Kinnicutt's accounts, 1829; a record of his investments and accounts, 1833-1854; and one volume of newspaper clippings on members of the Kinnicutt family.
