This collection consists generally of legal papers, many of Ephraim Littlefield (1749-1828), Justice of the Peace in Middlesex County. There are two small notebooks recording court cases and fees, many court orders attaching goods and estates of various persons for payment of debts, several promissory notes, a few deeds, and one map of Cedar Swamp copied in 1783 from the 1724/25 original. Other papers pertain to a debt owed by Samuel Haley ( - ) to John Stone ( - ) and Littlefield and its eventual settlement. Also included is one small notebook listing students in Holliston, Mass., taught by Jeninna A. Fairbanks ( - ), 1856-1858, as well as recording her personal expenses.
