The volume contains various mathematical notes and examples. This includes geometry, trigonometry, and problems involving addition, multiplication, etc. Numerous navigational problems are discussed, concerning plain sailing, mercators sailing, parallel sailing, middle latitude sailing, and the variation of the compass. In addition, the volume contains conversion tables for money values and other charts entitled "The Elements of Chronology." Numerous practice exercises are included.
