Account book, 1770-1789.

ArchivalResource

Account book, 1770-1789.

These two account books are attributed to John Child, Jr., of Holden, Mass., though there is some question whether an attribution should be made to Ignatius Goulding. The two volumes, one daybook and one ledger, are records of accounts for an inn and general store, 1770-1789. There is an extensive but partial index in the account book while the accounts include listing of customers, goods purchased from the general store, and expenses of food, drink and lodging at the inn. The daybook contains similar information arranged chronologically for the period 1771-1784.
