Miscellaneous manuscripts, 1859-1860.

Letters to his sister written while he was a student at the University of Pennsylvania; the 22 September 1859 letter is written on Penn stationery. He signs the 11 January 1860 letter "Harry." He never uses his sister's name; all the letters open with "My Dear Sister."

In 1919 Edward Bushnell was appointed publicity agent for the University of Pennsylvania. His appointment began a long and expanding effort at public relations at the University. In 1954 the Department of Public Relations expanded its work to include two new units, Motion Picture Services and the Office of Radio and Television.
