Manuscript. "[O]riginal typewritten feasibility report for the development of a copper mining operation and ancilliary facilities (power stations etc.) to support the mining project. The report consists of 36 pages of text accompanied by 10 large folding color cloth backed manuscript topographical, sectional, and geological maps of the area to be developed. Plans were also put forward for power generation at three rivers that were up to 60 miles distant from the actual mine (the Coriviri, Sajama, and Lauca rivers were visited and surveyed). The report was written for [mining promoter] R[obert] G. Hanford of San Francisco"--Bookseller's catalog description.

John Flesher Newsom earned his master's and doctorate degrees in geology at Stanford from 1898 to 1910, when he resigned to do full time exploratory work for mining companies. He died unexpectedly in October 1928. John Branner Newsom, son of J.F. Newsom, earned his a.b. in geology at Stanford in 1922 and his engineer's degree in 1924.
