New York City YMCA sports photographs. 1920s-1970s (bulk 1950s-1960s)

The collection consists of sporting events at various branches of the YMCA of Greater New York. Most of the images in the collection are black and white and date from the 1950s and 1960s. However, there are also photographs that document the earlier history of sports at the New York YMCA. In particular, there are significant numbers of photographs documenting the place of gymnastics in the1920s. Other strengths of this collection include photos of swimming and basketball programs in branches throughout New York. The collection includes photographs of prominent individuals who helped promote the YMCA sports programs. These include Annette Funicello, Bill Bradley, and other public figures.
