Letter, 1845 Feb. 28, Boston, to George Washington Greene, Rome.

Writing to his friend, the American consul at Rome, Crawford comments on the competition for a proposed equestrian statue of Washington on horseback and a rival sculptor, Persico, mentions his plan to offer a sculpture to the Boston Athenaeum, refers to a struggling young artist, "Charlie Perkins" in Rome, and condemns the new buildings going up in Boston. The letter begins with a note from Crawford's wife, Louisa, to Mrs. Greene.
