Includes references to George Washington, Lawrence Washington and General Edward Braddock. Also discusses the murder of fellow Scotsman, Robert Routlidge by John Chiswell, son-in-law of Colonel William Randolph of Turkey Island. Also contains letters from mother Rachel Murray Carlyle and daughter Sarah (Carlyle) Herbert, as well as a page from the Carlyle family Bible and an indenture for nephew John Carlyle.
