[Letter] 1774 Aug. 30, Springfield, [Mass., to] "My Dear". Incomplete letter (8 p., draft with many corrections and additions), commenting upon political meetings in Springfield with mention of Governor Thomas Gage (at this time the Royal governor and commander-in-chief of Massachusetts), Jonathan Bliss (then representative from Springfield to the Massachusetts General Court and a supporter of the royalist government) and Caleb Strong. -- [Letter] 1774 Sep. 8 [to] "My Dear Kinsman," I. Owen, signed Sam.el Clarke (6 p.). Clarke writes of the need for a new charter.
