Clarence Pickett (1884-1965) was a prominent Friend. The executive secretary of the American Friends Service Committee from 1929 to 1950, he was influential in governmental and international circles as well. He served as an advisor to Presidents Hoover, Roosevelt, Truman and Kennedy. The Message Committee of the American Friends Service Committee was founded in 1930 to encourage visitation and communication among members of the Society of Friends. Its name was changed in 1932 to the Fellowship Committee.
