Cardozo attended school in Charleston, South Carolina until he was 12. His higher education was at University of Glasgow and in London. 1868-72 - secretary of state for South Carolina. 1872-76 - treasurer for state of South Carolina, regarded as one of the best educated men in South Carolina.
