Evans Casso has authored a number of historical books. This is a continuing collection containing items including a photograph, clippings, and photocopies. The photograph is of Evan Jones McCall and Henry George McCall with their nurse, Mary Hartman Landry, ca. 1888. Also included is a study of Emerson Bentley, 1866-1889, by Lel McCullough; the diary of a Donaldsonville Cannoneer - Romain Octave Landry transcribed by Casso, and a taped interview with Casso regarding his life, conducted by Dr. Clifton H. Johnson (Director of Amistad Research Center, New Orleans). Casso is a member of the Civil War Round Table of New Orleans, and included is a paper that he delivered at the Round Table on the topic of General Wade Hampton. Also included is a map showing the plan of Fort Butler, a Civil War fort near Donaldsonville, LA; a photocopied article from Scientific Monthly: "A Negro Scientist of Slavery Days" (by George P. Meade, April 1946, Vol. LXII, pp. 317-326), concerning Norbert Rillieux, inventor of sugar refining process using vacumn evaporating pans; an outline by Casso of life on the NcCall Plantation where he grew up, and a bulletin; The Negro In the Aerospace Industry, by Herbert R. Northrup, 1968.
