Letter, 1809 January 26, Norfolk [Va.], to Francis Jerdone, Mitchel's Store, Louisa County [Va.].

Tazewell has agreed to defend Daniel McClaren on a murder charge in the Virginia District Court at Williamsburg. As payment McClaren has given Tazewell a letter of credit from Francis Jerdone stating that he owed McClaren one hundred dollars. Jerdone has refused to pay, saying his accounts with McClaren are not settled. In this letter Tazewell threatens to sue if Jerdone refuses to honor the debt.
