Confessions of a displaced native of the United States, 1941-1942.

This collection consists of copies of 3 letters, a news release and 46 leaves of the memoirs of Richard W. Douglas. The memoirs focus on Mr. & Mrs. Douglas' homestead on the Wahluke Slope near the Columbia River. Most of their time on the homestead was spent waiting for irrigation to be made available from a hydroelectric plant to be built at the head of the Priest Rapids on the Columbia River. The memoirs also go into detail about Mr. Douglas' career as a labor organizer and Democratic Party leader. The memoir was intended by Mr. Douglas to describe the Wahluke Slope homestead and its effect on his life. But, he has written about many events that took place while he and his wife were waiting for irrigation to their property. They include many of his political activities including managing different campaigns through the years.
