Typewritten copies of letters to Andrew Jackson from William B. Lewis, former advisor and member of his "Kitchen Cabinet," concerning current events in American government, specifically legislation, Congress, the office of the president, and the National Bank question. Also included is a letter from Lewis to Governor Lewis Cass of Michigan recollecting the facts leading to Jackson's nomination for the Presidency, and a letter from Jackson to Moses Dawson of Ohio recounting his stance on the questions of banking and currency. Lewis's letters also briefly discuss Jackson's financial situation, Indians in Florida, and family matters. Location of originals unknown.
