The Lamson family papers contain genealogical information on the Lamson and Swift families; letters from Edwin Lamson to his wife, Mary S. Lamson, during Apr. 1861 at the start of the Civil War; letters from Mary Lamson to her father, Edwin, during a trip to Europe; Edwin Lamson's journals of the family's trips to the Southern States (1855) and throughout Europe (1868-1870); and Mary S. Lamson's journal of her trip to the Great Lakes (1868). Also, papers of Helen and Gardner Swift Lamson, children of Edwin and Mary Swift Lamson; letters from Laura Dewey Bridgman, the first blind-deaf woman to be educated, to Mary Swift Lamson, her teacher of three years and author of a book on Bridgman (1857-1887); 3 volumes of pressed ocean flora, one with a poem by John G. Whittier (1850), probably in his hand; and 2 volumes of quotations and verses. Includes family photographs.
