The Charles K. Macniff collection of Civil War letters. 1861-1864.

The Charles K. Macniff collection contains letters written by Macniff to his sisters and other family members while Macniff was in Northern Virginia and surrounding areas during the years 1861-1864. There are other letters in the collection that are written by family members or friends of Macniff during this same time period. These letters give us clues of what it was like to be a Union soldier during the Civil War. Other letters from the Civil War era written by various individuals are also included in the collection.
