Frederick Evert Kredel (1903-1961) was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Johns Hopkins Medical School in 1929. While a student, Dr. Kredel worked in the Harvard laboratory of the renowned surgeon Dr. Harvey Cushing. Dr. Kredel was the first full-time professor of surgery at the Medical College of the State of South Carolina, where he taught from 1937-1961.
