Sioux and Chippewa annuity rolls, 1838-1839, 1843.

Handwritten copies of annuity rolls for the Mdewakanton Band of Sioux (Dakota) Indians in Iowa Territory (1838, 1839) and the Mississippi and Lake Superior bands of Chippewa (Ojibwe) Indians within the jurisdiction of the Office of Indian Affairs La Pointe Agency in Wisconsin Territory (1843). They document payments made to the bands by the federal government under the terms of treaties negotiated in 1837 and ratified by the U.S. Senate in 1838.
