Memorandum books of G.W. Wannamaker of Hammond, La., contain day-by-day entries describing tracts of land surveyed, lumber estimates, work time put in cutting timber, and travel and occasional hotel stays in various locations in southeast Louisiana and south Mississippi. The entries provide information on the location, size, and nature of timber and land holdings in the region, and the activities of several major lumber companies in the closing years of their operation, among them the Hammond Lumber Company and the Fleming Lumber Company.
