Collection consists of genealogical materials related to the Briscoe family, descendants of John Briscoe (1612-1699), who arrived in Maryland in 1638. Included are abstracts of the wills of Philip Briscoe (ca. 1648-ca. 1724) and his wife Susanna Swann Briscoe (d. ca. 1740) of Charles County, Maryland; a Bible record of Samuel Wood (fl. 1736) whose daughter Anne (b. 1718) married Robert Briscoe (1718-1798), son of Philip; and a genealogical table, "Briscoe Lineage," compiled by R. C. Todd and showing descent from Dr. John Briscoe of Crofton, England and St. Mary's, Maryland.

A native Virginian, Ann Whitehead Thomas became a resident of Round Hill, Va., in 1968, soon after her 1961 marriage to H. Rogers Thomas (1911-2001). She had close connections to Upper Loudoun preceding her move to Round Hill; Snickersville and Snickersville Gap were named after her relative Edward Snickers.
