Pertains mainly to Robert Bolling (1646-1709) of England and Virginia and his descendants. Includes a genealogical chart, lists of slaves belonging to John Bolling in 1711 and Anne Bolling in 1709, and a document certifying the number of inhabitants in Charles City County in 1699. All of the items were handwritten in a copy of John Purvis's "A Complete Collection of All the Laws of Virginia Now In Force" (1682), housed in Special Collections at the Library of Virginia. Other allied families mentioned include: Rolfe and Stith.

Robert Bolling (1738-1775) was born in Henrico County, VA. He was schooled in England, and was a gifted linguist. Additionally, Bolling studied law in both England and Williamsburg. While living in Buckingham County Bolling was elected to the House of Burgesses, where he served for four years.
