American physician, oncologist, and hematologist. Virgil Loeb, Jr. received his medical degree from the Washington University School of Medicine in 1944 where he trained under Dr. Carl V. Moore. He interned at Barnes and Jewish hospital, St. Louis, (1944-1945) and was resident in internal medicine at Barnes Hospital (1947-1948) and research fellow in hematology Washington U (1949-1952).
