Margaret Oliphant letter to Houghton Mifflin [manuscript], 1888 Nov 16.

Oliphant thanks the publisher for the draft for 10.17. 9 pounds for the sales of "Second Son" which she has received. She is sorry that the negotiations with Blackwoods fell through, concerning the biography of P[?]. She does not know the reason, but knows that it is "not a book to be printed like a novel." She would like to see it printed on both sides of the Atlantic.
