Richard Manning Hodges (1794-1878) was born in Salem, Massachusetts, and graduated from Harvard College in 1815. He also graduated from Harvard Divinity School in the distinguished class of 1818, which included such individuals as Convers Francis, George Ingersoll, John Palfrey, John Pierpont, and Jared Sparks. He was ordained to the Unitarian ministry at South Bridgewater, Massachusetts, in 1821. He helped to organize the church in Somerville, Massachusetts, prior to his retirement to Cambridge...
