The Eric Gill - H. Cotton Minchin collection, 1928-1929.

The Eric Gill - H. Cotton Minchin collection consists of correspondence dated 1928 to 1929 concerning an engraving that Gill provided for 'The Legion book'. That book, edited by Minchin, was published in 1929 to raise funds for the British Legion, an organization formed to assist veterans of the British armed forces and their dependants. Contributions to the volume were solicited from the leading writers and artists of the day. All letters in the collection, but one, are from Gill to Minchin, the lone exception being addressed to Sir Leonard Halsey. Other correspondence regarding contributions to 'The Legion book' may be found in the Archives of the Legion Book at the Cushing Memorial Library of Texas A & M University.
