Papers of Army officer, Ticonderoga Museum director, and historian Edward Pierce Hamilton include papers of John Lillie relative to his Revolutionary War service; an autographed copy of Samuel Smith's anthem "America"; a hunting and fishing log (1931-1940); and Hamilton's diary with typed excerpts of letters to his family describing his work as a Colonel in a U.S. Artillery unit in Italy, 1943-45. Also, notes and ms. copies of his works on Louis-Antoine de Bougainville; John Enys; John Thomas; the attack and massacre at Fort William Henry (1757); the battles at and near Fort Ticonderoga; the resolution of the "Suffolk Resolves house" controversy; Milton, Mass. town history; and the historic reconstruction of Robertson's Mill, a windmill in Williamsburg, Virginia. Letters, reviews, and notes for Hamilton's book on the French and Indian War are also included.
