John Michael O'Connor, United States Army officer during and after the War of 1812 was a resident of New York. He was cited for gallantry at the Battle of Chippewa, July 5, 1814. O'Connor translated Gay de Vernon's TREATISE ON THE SCIENCE OF WAR AND FORTIFICATIONS, which was used as a textbook for many years at West Point.
