Reminiscences of Franklin Haven Sr., president of the Merchants National Bank from 1837 to 1884. Haven recounts his banking career, experiences with his friend Daniel Webster, and meetings with Salmon P. Chase, Gen. Irvin McDowell, and others. Written in the form of a letter to his daughter Nellie Haven Ross (Mrs. Waldo O. Ross).
