This is an artificial collection created by the Georgia Historical Society by compiling prints, some from other manuscript collections, into a single collection. The prints include etchings and silhouettes, as well as other forms. It is unknown when this collection was created, but most of the materials were processed during the 1980s. The photographs are arranged into 14 series by subject matter: agriculture, architectural elements, art, buildings, birds, events, geographical locations, military, monuments and memorials, occupations and employment, organizations, people, sports, and transportation. This collection contains prints of people and subject matter relating to Savannah and the greater Georgia region. Series 15 includes oversize prints of various topics, mostly depicting civil war images published in Frank Leslie's Illustrated Newspaper, Harper's Weekly, and the Illustrated London News. An index of personal names follows this finding aid. Series 16 includes negatives, which are restricted from patron use. The unprocessed negatives also include negatives from MS 1361-PH.
