Chrysoboull [microform], [1333].

Byzantine Emperor Andronicus III Palaeologus confirms the selling of a mill on the river Panax (near Serrai, Greece) which was sold by his uncle Protostrator Theodōros Doukas Palaiologos Synadēnos to Gerʹvasii︠e︡, Abbot of Hilandar. With statement of month, indiction, year and the Emperor's signature. The authenticity of this document appears suspect. It seems improbable that it was produced in the imperial chancellery without the Emperor filling in the space left for insertions in his own handwriting. The signature was copied by a forger from a similar chrysoboull. The gold seal was probably provided from another chrysoboull to lend credibility. A more unlikely explanation would be that some incident prevented the Emperor from signing this document. Parchment original with gold seal and purple thread, 32 lines, 45 x 28 cm. With manuscript parchment copy of unknown date, no seal, 21 lines (with signature), 32 x 25 cm, spotted on the left side.
