Historical papers, 1640-1906.

Papers collected by Samuel A. Green in the preparation of his Groton Historical Series, published from 1887 to 1899. Includes deeds and other land records of Groton, particularly of the Prescott, Lakin, and Lawrence families; writs and other legal papers of Justice of the Peace William Lawrence; part of a case record book kept by Justice of the Peace Benjamin Prescott, 1729-33; papers relating to the construction of a meeting house in Groton, 1753-5; muster rolls and other papers of Capt. Thomas Lawrence's Company, Ebenezer Nichols's Regiment, of the Mass. militia in the French and Indian War. Also included are two scrapbooks of clippings, printed material, and correspondence of George H. Brown relating to Groton's bicentennial (1855), and a scrapbook of clippings concerning an 1892 fire in Groton and the litigation that followed.
