In a letter 1849[?] Rucker writes to his mother [from the University of Virginia?]. He mentions that "Hardy Burton is to be married this week to one of the richest girls in the state." He comments on a cholera epidemic in Nashville and mentions that he has recently seen an account of the death of General [William Jenkins] Worth. Rucker then relates a description of the great fire in St. Louis, Missouri. He closes by mentioning that he is attending classes regularly and that he visited his former landlady who is ill. He has seen Barkley Tilman and passes along family news. the collection also contains a monthly report for Nov. 1, 1849, from University of Virginia Faculty Chairman Gessner Harrison to Samuel R.
